Speaker 1 00:00:12 Welcome to the meditation and worship series. With west side church, we are continuing to meditate on scripture and developing some practices. As we walk through the season of lent. Our hope is that this time of meditation and worship can be a breath of fresh air. As we journey towards Easter together, Let's start today by pausing for a moment and focusing our attention to Jesus. Let us be expectant of the movement of the holy spirit in our time together. If you are in a place to do so, close your eyes, Hold out your hands in front of you in a posture of surrender, Take a deep breath in And out And another in And out This week, we are in the book of Romans and learning more about our justification by faith. Justification is the act of God taking us from sinners into righteousness. When we put our faith in Christ and through what he did on the cross, Romans five verses one through five. Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us Because of our faith. Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege, where we now stand and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory. Speaker 1 00:02:01 We can rejoice too. When we run into problems and trials for we know that they help us develop endurance and endurance develops strength of character and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment for we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the holy spirit to fill our hearts with his love. These verses provide a list of blessings that we find when we put our trust in Jesus love, Speaker 0 00:02:44 Peace, Speaker 1 00:02:46 Joy, Hope As people who were living in rebellion, apart from God, we are now brought into right relationship with him because of what Jesus did on the cross. As we talked last week, God's purpose was for all creation to be reconciled to himself and through the work of Christ. This is possible. Not only are we forgiven, but we have also been brought into a place of undeserved privilege with Jesus so that we too can share in God's glory one day. And with that, we are given peace with God, no longer cowering and separated because of our sin. And we can have hope for what lies ahead. Even without knowing each step or road, we will walk down A preacher once said that peace and joy are the twin blessings of the gospel or the good news of Jesus. Peace is joy at rest. And joy is peace dancing. And as people who have been made righteous, we have access to these gifts and to a relationship with God. When was the last time you were conscious of your joy? When have you experienced peace Today, take some time to write down three things that you are grateful for. That bring you joy and peace. Speaker 1 00:04:36 Jesus, you, our mediator, our savior. Thank you for the gift of life. Thank you for saving us from Thank you for saving us from death and separation from our father. As we go about our day, let that be at the forefront of our minds. May we be grateful for your love and keep saying thank you today. Grant us peace and joy. Even in the unlikeliest circumstances, because we are yours father and we have hope in you. Amen.
