Speaker 1 00:00:05 Welcome to the lint meditation and worship series with Westside church. Our hope is that this time can be a breath of fresh air. As we journey towards Easter together. Let us start today by pausing and focusing our attention to Jesus. May we be expectant of the movement of the holy spirit in our time together. If you are in a place to do so, close your eyes, Hold out your hands in front of you. Take a deep breath in And out And another in And out This week, we are in the book of Romans and learning more about justification by faith. Romans chapter five, verses six through 11. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person though. Someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good, But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation. Speaker 1 00:01:44 For, since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his son, while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. Speaker 1 00:02:09 Jesus paid the ultimate price for us with his wife While we were still sinners, still separated from God Christ died for us. We didn't do anything to earn it or to even show God that we might change our ways. Jesus action was first and foremost rooted in the love of his people, his children, And because of that, verse 11 tells us now we rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. Do you think of God as your friend? How does your view of God as a friend show up in your life? When we live in a way that we believe God to also be our friend, it should change the way we interact with him. Prayers become conversations. Decisions are reconsidered in the way that they will affect this friendship. Take some time and write down some ideas today about what it means and looks like for you to be a friend of God. Jesus, thank you for making a way for us to be God's friend. Thank you for giving your life before we ever deserved it. There is no way that we could ever earn or prove that we are deserving of your grace. And yet you still give it freely. Speaker 1 00:04:02 Be with us today, Help us to be aware and conscious of our friendship with you. Give us ease of conversation with you, God, and open our ears and our hearts to hear what you are also saying to us. We love you. Amen. Speaker 2 00:04:33 Jesus. No, that week say he said it.
